IGCSEs are a worldwide version of the compulsory school examination in the UK. These courses last two years, and include internal and externally assessed assignments. (I)GCSE results are used to support university applications. This provides a useful focus as students make the transition to A Levels.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”2. What will students learn during IGCSE?” google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%20Condensed%3A300%2C300italic%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]All students follow our compulsory core curriculum, which includes Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English Language, Economics, Drama and Physical Education (PE). At Kingsgate International School students will also complete our special subject named “Global Reasoning” which focuses on critical thinking, current events and western culture. It aims to prepare students for life abroad and in a global world.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”3. How are students assessed during IGCSE?” google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%20Condensed%3A300%2C300italic%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]IGCSE grades are reported on a scale from A* to U, with grades A* to C usually seen as passing grades. Most subjects have a combination of internally and externally assessed assignments that make up the final IGCSE grade. This varies from subject to subject, but is designed so that the final IGCSE grade represents the entire two years’ work, not just the final examination.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”4. How is learning enriched during IGCSE?” google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%20Condensed%3A300%2C300italic%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]The IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14–16 year olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education. Students in the UK usually study GCSEs. The international version allows us to use case studies and texts that are more relevant for our international setting. We further enrich the curriculum with technology, integrating the use of computers into everyday learning to expose students to a wide variety of tools, media and resources to enhance learning.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”5. What is the role of homework in the curriculum?” google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%20Condensed%3A300%2C300italic%2C700|font_style:700%20bold%20regular%3A700%3Anormal”][vc_separator][vc_column_text]Homework is an integral part of student learning. It enables students to consolidate, practice and develop the skills they have learnt in class and prepare for subsequent lessons. It is also the time when internal assessments can be carried out. Students manage their own time to ensure they meet the deadlines they have been set. We also provide independent study tutorials each evening and on weekends.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”757″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border” onclick=”link_image” css=”.vc_custom_1516849448390{margin-bottom: 12px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1516849452611{margin-top: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;}”]Greg Parry, CEO and Education Expert[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
